We make sure that knowledge workers get better wages. Our local union representatives help you negotiate wages, either by carrying out wage negotiations for you, or by helping you formulate wage demands. Our local representatives also represent you in all matters relating to your employment. You can see an overview of our local branches here.
As part of a trade union, you always have a stronger position in wage negotiations, and the more members we have, the greater impact we have in wage settlements - both centrally and locally.
We are also here for you when you are looking for a new job – such as when you need to negotiate salary and terms of employment. Upon registration, you automatically receive our basic insurance, if you wish. The insurance consists of life insurance, disability insurance, critical illness insurance and accident insurance, and does not require a health certificate. Your family members are covered by the basic insurance's accident insurance.
All our other insurance policies are also available for your family members at favourable prices. In this way, you can collect all the family's insurance policies on one invoice, while saving money!
We also offer our own student insurance. As a student member, you get our tailor-made insurance package for students – at no extra cost.
As a member, you can get legal assistance and guidance from Forskerforbundet's attorneys and local union representatives in questions about your salary and working conditions.
For example: What can the employer demand from you? What does the Working Environment Act say about working hours and overtime? We're there for you the day you need it.
We also collaborate with several law firms on member discounts on legal services. The agreements apply to matters not covered by our legal assistance.
Paying union dues entitles you to a tax deduction, i.e. an amount – up to NOK 8,000 for the income year 2024 – which you can deduct from your taxable income.
If you have only paid the membership fee for part of the year, the amount will be adjusted accordingly. The tax deduction will normally be filled in on the tax return, so you don't have to calculate it yourself.
Some of the membership benefits that cannot be calculated are solidarity, expertise and networks.
Forskerforbundet has a number of useful courses for our members and union representatives. In the past year, we have, among other things, organized courses in memory training, AI, and how to write a perfect salary claim. For union representatives, we have courses on everything from conflict management to negotiation strategy.
The local branches also organize social events which are very popular among our members.
As a member, you will be sent the magazine Forskerforum, which has 10 issues per year.
