Basic member insurance
Forskerforbundet has a basic life and disability insurance plan for all members. When you join Forskerforbundet, you are automatically included in the basic insurance plan.
The basic insurance consists of life insurance, disability insurance, critical illness insurance, and an accident insurance that covers the entire family.
The basic insurance is mandatory, however, individual members can choose to opt out.

New members are automatically enrolled in the insurance without providing any information on their health. If you have no need for basic insurance, you can opt out by filling out a declaration form. Contact our insurance office for help. If you opt out from the insurance when you become a member, a satisfactory health declaration is required if you wish to join later.
The basic insurance costs NOK 220 per month (NOK 2,640 per year) in 2026. The insurance is paid together with the membership fee, either via monthly payroll deduction or via invoice.
Please note that disability insurance requires you to be a member of the Norwegian National Insurance Scheme. See nav.no/en for more information.
Student members are not automatically covered by the insurance, but can take it out individually.
