Scholars at Risk (SAR) is an international network of over 500 higher education institutions in around 40 countries. One of the core tasks is to offer a guest stay in safe surroundings to exposed and threatened researchers.

Forskerbundet ‘s executive board decided to become a sponsor member of Scholars at Risk (SAR) in 2016. The goal of SAR’s is to strengthen basic human rights and academic freedom for scientist, and researchers in the global academic society.

Scholars at Risk (SAR) er et internasjonalt nettverk bestående av institusjoner for høyere utdanning som har til oppgave å fremme akademisk frihet og å forsvare forskeres menneskerettigheter verden over.
The head office is located in New York City and SAR Norway has also a forum to discusses activities and goals for SAR’s work.
One of the most important goals of SAR’S is providing sanctuary and assistance for threatened scholars worldwide. SARS offers temporary research and teaching position in their network as well as providing advisory and referral services. so they can continue their work, in addition contribute to the host institution.
SAR also works with public relation and arrangements, by organizing lecture tours, creates campaigns for in prisoned researchers and researches for academic freedom.
