Our members are employed in scientific, technical-administrative or librarian positions at universities, colleges, research institutes, museums, archives, healthcare organizations and in public administration related to research and higher education.

Forskerforbundet's number of members is on the rise and in August, 2024 we reached 26,000 members.

Forskerforbundet was founded on 8 February 1955 as Fellesrådet for vitenskapelige tjenestemenn (translates to the Joint Council for Scientific Officials).

Forskerforbundet's English name is the Norwegian Association of Researchers (NAR).

The Northern Sami name of Forskerforbundet is Dutkiidsearvi.
