This means that your salary is determined through cooperation between the employer and the trade unions, and that you have both rights and opportunities to influence your own salary development.
Every year, salary negotiations are conducted in the state.
Annual local salary negotiations
Some pay claims can be processed outside the annual local negotiations. This applies especially if there have been significant changes in the employee's responsibility or duties, or if NTNU has challenges in recruiting or retaining employees.
Salary negotiations on a special basis
The employer has a duty to assess your salary placement without you having to make a claim. This applies: within 12 months of employment, upon transition from temporary to permanent position. The assessment is based on the content of the position and your competence, and allows for salary adjustment if you were incorrectly placed at the time of employment. We recommend that you initiate a salary discussion with your immediate supervisor well in advance of 12 months having passed. Before the conversation, it may be useful to look at relevant salary statistics. We are happy to help you with the preparations for the salary discussion and relevant salary statistics.
